Update to the response from SunEnergy regarding the ABC’s recent report

Following our receipt of the allegations from Marianne Hunn (as reported by ABC), a thorough investigation was performed by John Daly, the National Sales Manager for SunEnergy.

Marianne Hunn has consented and given permission for SunEnergy to disclose the following information regarding the performance and operation of her solar system.

Marianne had a 5.13kw system installed in 3 phases. From the first day of power generated (December 30th 2018) until the date of assessment (20th August 2020), it was found that the system had produced a total of 11647.7kw. This works out to be an average of 19.38kw a day.

Her original proposal was estimated to be only 17.43kw a day meaning her system was performing better than originally calculated.

The above figures are from 2 winters and 1 summer in Adelaide over 601 days. It’s important to note that there is lower solar power production in winter.

The difference between her savings per fortnight and solar repayments was only $0.73 per week. However, Marianne had in fact saved $1822.87 on her energy bills.

She was also credited by her retailer with $1046.50 for power fed back into the grid.

The total savings up the time of assessment from having the solar system installed was in fact $2869.36.

Marianne is on a feed-in tariff of 14.44c per kw which is lower than the current available SA rate of up to 18c per kw. She was also on ‘bill smoothing’ with her energy retailer that had not been reviewed in over 18 months resulting in her paying more than required.

Mr & Mrs Hunn were only using 38% of their power with 62% being sold back to the grid. They were educated on how to maximise their energy usage to increase savings. Prior to having solar installed, Marianne and her husband were using 23kw a day of power. Their energy usage had also increased by approximately 20%.

A cash flow forecast was done based on all the data. Should energy prices stay at what they are at this time, over the next 20 years it is forecasted that Marianne will save an estimated $36,578 putting $70 each fortnight back into her budget.

Based on these findings, SunEnergy is confident that it has created a solution that works better than expected, plus it is a solution that matches the customer’s budget without almost any impact on their cash flow.

SunEnergy is now reviewing its legal rights with respect to the defamatory statements made and aired by ABC.

SunEnergy would like to highlight a time-sensitive opportunity: The imminent reduction in the Federal Government STC rebate for Solar systems installed after January 1st 2024.

This change will impact the financial benefits associated with installing solar PV systems, making it paramount for you to consider this opportunity promptly.

Australia’s solar energy industry has been thriving in recent years and the Australian government’s support, particularly through incentives like the STC rebate, has been instrumental in fostering the growth of solar PV systems.

Acting with a sense of urgency is key, and here’s why securing your solar PV system with SunEnergy before the rebate reduction is of utmost importance:

1. Financial Savings: Seize the current rebate scheme to substantially reduce your upfront costs. This translates into significant financial savings for you, making solar power more accessible.

2. Environmental Impact: Embrace solar energy to shrink your carbon footprint and contribute to a cleaner, sustainable future. Your decision today positively influences the environment and supports the ongoing shift towards renewable energy.

3. Energy Independence: With your solar PV system, you’re on the path to generating your clean energy and reducing reliance on conventional sources. Capitalise on the current rebate scheme to fast-track your journey towards energy independence.
