SolarEdge Safe DC & Power Surges
SafeDC™ is a safety feature built into each panel which is designed to minimise electrocution risk. This is achieved by power optimisers which automatically switch into safety mode. When a risk occurs the output voltage of each panel is reduced to only 1V in either of these cases:
- During an installation, when the panels are disconnected from the inverter, or the inverter is turned off
- During maintenance or in an emergency, when the inverter or AC connection is switched off
- When the temperature rises above 85 ˚C as detected by the power optimiser
The SolarEdge SafeDC™ feature is certified in Europe as a DC disconnect according to IEC/EN 60947-1 and IEC/EN 60947-3 and to the safety standards VDE AR 2100-712 and OVE R-11-1.
Power Surges & Arcing
SolarEdge inverters are also protected against irregular power surges and arcing.
Each inverter has a built-in protection designed to mitigate the effects of some arcing faults that may pose a flammable risk to comply with the UL1699B arc detection standard.
