What’s the SA VPP Rebate?
The Retailer Energy Productivity Scheme (REPS) offers a cash rebate for eligible South Australians who connect their battery system to an approved VPP.
The rebate amount depends on two factors:
- Battery size (capped at 28kWh)
- Whether you’re in the priority group (low-income or vulnerable household)
Here are some typical rebate values:

You can claim for multiple batteries, as long as the total is under 28kWh.
Rebates are one-time only, you cannot claim again if you add more batteries later.
Key Deadlines
- Non-priority customers:
Must apply by 5pm, October 24, 2025 (or earlier if funds are exhausted) - Priority customers:
May still apply through December, but rebates are not guaranteed
What You’ll Need
To claim your rebate, you must:
- Be a South Australian resident
- Be enrolled in SunPlus or Amber SmartShift
- Submit your application before rebates run out
Required documents include:
- A signed quote or installation contract
- Electrical Certificate of Compliance (ECOC)
- Photo of your installed battery
- Email confirming VPP enrolment (e.g., “Your battery’s being optimised!”)
- Evidence of priority group status (if applicable)
Once submitted and approved, you’ll receive your payment within 60 days.
