Is the inverter communicating with your home Wi-Fi?
This is crucial for our ability to monitor your system, as well as giving you the ability to easily see the performance of your solar system and view historical performance.
Please view this video to see how to do it:
Or use the instructions below:
If you don't already have the MySolarEdge App installed on your phone, please install it from your phones App/Play Store.
- Log into your MySolarEdge app and click the three horizontal lines on the upper left of the screen to open the apps sidebar.
- Select “Inverter Communications”
- Scan the QR code on the upper right-hand side of your inverter.
- Move the inverters red toggle switch to the "P" position, and release within 2 seconds. (The toggle switch is found to the left of the inverters lights, in the horizontal gap between the two halves of the inverter.)
- Please confirm the connection to the SEDG-XXXX network if prompted.
- Tap Configure when prompted.
- Please accept the “No Internet” warning if it appears.
- Select your home WiFi network and enter its password.
- The app should say “confirming the connection”.
- Go back to Inverter Communications
- Move the red toggle switch to the "P" position again and release it in 2 seconds.
- The app should confirm the connection via a green tick.
Still can’t connect?
If there are still issues connecting, please check the following on your Wi-Fi Modem:
- 1. Take the inverter through the Restart Procedure.
- 2. On your phone, temporarily turn the Auto-Join/Auto-Connect feature OFF for your home WiFi network connection. This is found in the WiFi settings of your phone.
- 3. Ensure that the distance between the inverter and WiFi modem is less than 15m, anything greater is unlikely to work.
- 4. Make sure that the settings for the SEDG -XXX network allow connection even though there is no active internet available from the inverter.
- 5. The Wi-Fi password should not have any special characteristics in it, like “@#$%^&*(){}[];’,./:”<>?”
- 6. The Wi-Fi Modem should be broadcasting in the 2.4GHz band (Note: you can leave the 5Ghz band working.)
- The Wi-Fi Modem channel should be set to "Manual" and the channels must be between 1 to 11.
- 1. You can check this by typing the IP address of the router in the internet search bar of your laptop/PC.
- 2. Sign into your modem > Access > Wi-Fi Channel > Set channel value of between 1 and 11. (Note: The path taken to the channel settings may vary depending on your Wi-Fi modem.)
Then try connecting the Wi-Fi again.
